Shining Star for you to see, what your life can truly be.
His name is truly a spirited one.
A beacon of light. The man whose name is Orlando Bloom.

He must have been a beautiful baby. Something I’ve always had a wonderful feeling about, and has now come to light!
Orlando Bloom’s mother, Sonia Copeland Bloom had an interview with The Sun Magazine and her words about her son were:
I think he’s a bit of a phenomenon. There’s something very special about him, and he’s almost oblivious to it.

Who is Orlando Bloom you say?

Name: Orlando Bloom
Date of Birth: January 13, 1977
Place of Birth: Canterbury, England UK
Stepfather: Professor Harry Bloom
Mother: Sonia Copeland Bloom
Sister: Samantha

Orlando Bloom has inner strength that comes through on screen.
His step-father, Professor Harry Bloom was a legendary figure in anti-apartheid
in South Africa.  He was a Law Professor at Kent University.
Bloom wrote the famous tome entitled: Episode in the Transvaal.
His novel was written in 1955 and was banned for many years.
He was jailed for his beliefs.
Professor Harry Bloom worked very closely with Nelson Mandela.
In the words of his son: Harry was a great man. He died when I was four.
If was as if he did his work and left the world. His mother ran a language school
for many years.
Orlando’s plans of becoming an actor developed early on.  After graduating from high school  in 1993, a 16 year old Orlando moved to London to join the National Youth  Theatre. There he developed his acting skills and  landed a role  on Casualty.
It was my first-ever job playing a self-mutilator., a guy who cuts himself for attention. I remember shooting it in Bristol.  He then received a scholarship to The British American Drama Academy. It was there he played the lead role. The name of the film was A Walk in Vienna Woods. After that performance, he was then noticed by an agent. This led to Orlando’s first appearance onscreen. The name of the film was Wilde in 1997.

He was accepted in Guildhall’s School of Music and Drama.
Orlando performed in the following productions:

1. Little Me
2. A Month in the City.
3. Peer Gynt
4. Mephisto
5. Twelfth Night
6. Trojan Women
7. The Seagull
8. The Three Sisters
9. Recruiting Officer
10. Antigone
11. Under Vayana
12. A Night Out
13. Mystery Play

He only had one line in Wilde, but was soon flooded with film and television offers. Instead of accepting the offers, he chose to further his education. I had always planned to go to drama school. I suppose I could have trained in the industry more. Instead I chose an environment more conducive to experimenting.
Finally he appeared once again on screen in 2000 playing  Drinkwater in the television series MidSomer Murders. The episode called Judgement Day was about brutual pitchfork murders of a local thief and womanizer.

Two days before graduating from Guildhall, Orlando learned that Peter Jackson had cast him as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings. When I found out that I had the role it was a surreal moment. Amazing.  All rejoiced and thanks to this happening.

His next role was with Ridley Scott in Black Hawk Down. He also worked with Mark Mylod. The project was named Andre Schneider (1), a young German actor whom he had been admiring for a while then. They both came together again in the lackluster
Lullabye of Clubland (2002).
